A brand new lab and a gallery space!
The cat’s out of the bag…
We’re Moving! 🚚
We loved our little nook on Torrisdale St, but as we’ve grown it has become increasingly claustrophobic, and the time has come to move to somewhere larger.
So here’s a few things you need to know about real quick.
Still firmly rooted in Govanhill, we are quite literally moving around the corner to 140 Niddrie Road, G42 8PR. We’ll be shutting down operations for one week on Saturday 30th May, and we’ll be back in action processing and scanning on Monday 8th June.
To ensure we complete your orders before we close, the cutoff dates are as follows:
🟡 Colour/C41 cutoff - Friday 29th May @ 12:00
⚫️ B&W cutoff - Thursday 28th May @ 12:00
🏬 Shopfront closes - Saturday 30th May @ 16:00
✨ Shopfront reopens - Wednesday 10th June @ 10:00
Any film received after the cutoff dates will be processed when we reopen on Monday 8th June.
We aim to be back up to speed as soon as possible, so please refrain from chasing orders during this time as we're gonna be too busy chuggin' red bull to check our emails.
Secondly, we’re thrilled to introduce…
Gulabi Gallery 🖼️
That’s right, the new lab also has a dedicated gallery space!
To kick things off, as a part of Glasgow International Festival of Contemporary Art we’re hosting Hard Lines a solo exhibition by Lisette May Monroe, a Glasgow-based artists and writer from Kippax, Leeds.
Hard Lines is an autobiographical installation that uses sentimentality, nostalgia and revenge to navigate the aftermath of an abandoned relationship, while questioning what it means to inhabit a body stigmatised by the overhanging spectres of class, disability and menopause.
Where do long, sleepless nights lie within the mire of the late thirties? Where do heartache and longing reside amid the frenzy of shame? When the body begins to give up the ghost, as it has threatened to do since birth - particularly now in it’s most dire of hours - how does this haunting not become consuming?
In her autobiography, Hilary Mantel writes, “I began this writing in an attempt to seize copyright in myself.” This work is an exercise in doing the same: drawing an edge around experience and representing it as fact.
The exhibition is supported by Creative Scotland & Outer Spaces,
Hard Lines opens on the 5th June at 140 Niddrie Road, G42 8PR.
Give our Gallery a follow on Insta for updates as they come!
That’s all for now, rascals. We’ve got boxes to pack. Byeeeeeee
